Giveaway: Stainless Steel Muffin Pan from MightyNest

If you’ve been hanging out around here for a while, you might have noticed I have a bit of an obsession with muffins.  And making non-muffin foods in muffin pans.  Needless to say, my collection of muffin pans gets quite the work-out!  But while I have been doing my best to eliminate non-stick coatings in my other cookware due to the potential toxins, muffin pans are one thing I have been very nervous about replacing.  Even in the best of cases they are a pain to clean, so the risk of having my food caked on in each little cup was not very exciting!

So when MightyNest, one of my favorite online stores for non-toxic everything, offered to send me this stainless steel muffin pan to try out, I was pretty excited.  Some of my favorite kitchen toys are from MightyNest, and I have been eyeing this pan for a while.

What excites me the most about this stainless steel pan is that it’s made with totally non-toxic materials.  I can’t say for sure that there is anything worrysome about my standby Williams-Sonoma Gold Touch non-stick pan because I can’t find any details about the coating, but that secrecy along with the knowledge that non-stick coatings can have questionable safety is enough to make me suspicious.  Buying products from MightyNest is great because they take the guesswork out of shopping – I trust that whatever I buy from them is totally safe for my family.

That being said, I have been hesitant to actually take a chance on a muffin pan without that non-stick coating, so it took the opportunity for a free test drive for me to actually give it a chance!  When my new pan arrived, I tested the performance by doing a side by side comparison: I made double batches of three recipes (my mini spinach cheddar frittatasmeatloaf, and pumpkin muffins), one batch in my Williams-Sonoma Gold Touch pan, and the other in the new stainless steel pan.

The first thing I noticed was that the stainless steel pan is much lighter than my Williams-Sonoma one, making it easy to handle while still feeling very sturdy.  The cups in the stainless steel pan are also shallower than my Williams-Sonoma one, but this could be a real advantage if you’re a muffin-top kind of person!   The real test, though, was the baking.  For the meatloaf and the muffins, the stainless steel pan was virtually indistinguishable from my Williams-Sonoma in baking time, color, and general results.  The frittatas, on the other hand, took a little longer to bake in the stainless steel pan and didn’t brown quite as much, but this was not a big deal for me.

My biggest concern was whether there would be tons of sticking, especially with the frittatas which can be a challenge to get out.  I was shocked that each recipe I tried released from the stainless steel pan just as easily as my non-stick pan!  And while the new muffin pan didn’t clean itself (wouldn’t that be nice??), there were no issues at all getting it clean.

Overall I definitely intend to keep using my new stainless steel pan (and probably buy a second one).  With no compromise on performance, there is absolutely no reason not to switch to a totally non-toxic pan!

Now for the best part MightyNest has generously offered to give another stainless steel muffin pan to one of my readers!  I am not a fan of giveaways with lots of strings attached, so there are two easy ways to enter.  Each method counts as a separate entry, so feel free to do both to increase your chances of winning.

  1. Leave a comment below telling me what you would be excited to make in your new muffin pan.
  2. Visit MightyNest to learn more about them, sign up for their newsletter, and/or like them on Facebook – then leave a comment below letting me know that you did.

A winning comment will be chosen via random number generator based on entries received by noon (eastern time) on Friday, February 15.  Please be sure you enter your correct e-mail address when you leave a comment as that is how I will contact you if you win.

But wait, there’s more!  (Sorry, couldn’t resist the infomercial cheese!)  In addition to the giveaway MightyNest is also offering Simply Wholesome Kitchen readers a 10% discount on your entire purchase, which is good through Monday, February 18 – just use coupon code SIMPLY10.

Good luck with the giveaway!

Update: A winner has been chosen for this giveaway!

This is not a sponsored post.  MightyNest sent me a muffin pan to try, but all opinions here are my own.  I am an affiliate of MightyNest (because I shop there regularly and have been very happy with them!) so if you purchase something using my links, you pay the same price and I receive a small commission.  Thank you for your support!

  2. Leftover oatmeal muffins – the new favorite in our house! By the way, my current muffin pan is a nonstick William Sonoma one that I bought after you raved about it, so I think it would be fitting for me to get a new non-toxic pan through you ; )
